Which Panel Installation Option To Choose

When it comes to installing LED Panels, there are two main options you can choose from, depending on your needs.

LED Panel Installation Options

In most cases, LED Panels can either be installed by suspending them from wires or by using a mounting frame. Each has its advantages and disadvantages, which you should always take into consideration to get the best possible result.

  • Wire Suspension kits: These are designed to hold LED Panel lights in place while the external structure is attached to the ceiling through a series of stainless steel wires. This type of installation is great for when a closer light source is needed, as you won’t depend on your ceiling height or other factors related to it.
  • Mounting Brackets: These are also designed to hold the LED Panel in place, but with the difference that the bracket isn’t hanging freely, but rather firmly on a ceiling or wall. Mounting Brackets typically come in two subcategories:
  • Surface mounts: Surface-mounted LED Panel lights are ideal for cases where you want a wider beam angle and a more accessible mounting bracket, as these are firmly placed on the wall or the ceiling, but stand out from the surface, allowing for less complex installation and removal processes.
  • Recessed Mounts: Recessed Mounted LED Panel lights, on the other hand, are a lot more discrete, as they’re installed onto a hole in the wall or ceiling that was previously measured and cut. This allows for a much sleeker look, as the mounting bracket won’t pop out, but rather look like part of the building’s structure. However, since the LED Panel light will be inside a hole, the beam angle might be a little smaller, and accessing it for repairs or any other purpose might be more difficult.

Installation Advice

Now that you know the main types of LED Panel lights there are and the differences between suspension kits, surface mounting brackets, and recessed mounting brackets, we’d like to give you some installation advice.

Consider Your Ceiling Height

Take the time to measure your ceilings, as high spaces should be a determinant factor when trying to figure out which LED Panel light installation method you’ll use. High spaces are already difficult and dangerous to reach, so installing a recessed mount for your LED Panel light will make replacing and maintaining it quite challenging, even if you don’t have to do it often.

Also, the higher the light is installed, the less light will reach the floor and other spaces that you might want to be properly lit. Using a suspension kit that reduces the distance between the ceiling and your LED Panel lights will have a significant impact on the overall brightness that you can obtain.

Think About the Look You’re Going For

If you’re planning on using your LED Panel lights for practical purposes only without really worrying about aesthetics, then a surface mount might be ideal. On the other hand, if you want discretion and a smooth look, a recessed mount will be the way to go.

Some people also choose to use suspension kits as part of a home design statement, and it works well with proper planning and attention to detail.

Take Home Integration Into Account

While it’s not too common to have LED Panel lights with seamless Smart Home integration, you might want to consider one option over the other if you’re planning on making it a reality.

Provided you want to use a remote control for your LED Panel light, a recessed mount will likely not be a good idea, as the wall or the ceiling upon which the light is mounted might interfere with remote communication.

Which Led Panel Installation Method Is Best for You?

At the end of the day, it all comes down to personal preference, the height of your ceilings and the kind of look you’re going for. That said, when it comes to LED Panel lights, you can’t go wrong in terms of power efficiency, durability, and low maintenance requirements.
