Finding the Right LED Lighting Option for Your Warehouse
When it comes to warehouse lighting, there are many things that you have to take into consideration, such as safety and ease of maintenance. Warehouses are one of the most common places for workers to have accidents, many of which can be prevented with enough lighting. Here are some of the best options at your disposal.
IP66 Non-corrosive Lights
IP66 Non-corrosive lights are a great option to install in your warehouse, as they come in a variety of models. For example, if you’re just looking for a non-corrosive light that will keep your warehouse area sufficiently illuminated, a regular model will do the trick.
However, if you’re also looking for a lighting solution that has a sensor to activate the light when there’s movement, you’ll want to go for one with a microwave sensor. And if you want the sensor, along with an emergency 3-hour battery backup, that’s also an option.
By getting a non-corrosive light that has both the sensor and the emergency backup, you’ll be ensuring the safety of your workers.
IP65 Low Bay Lights
Depending on the height of the ceiling in your warehouse, you’ll either have to choose between a Low Bay or a High Bay LED light. Low Bay LED lights come in a range between 100 and 200 watts, including a 150-watt model for an in-between choice.
Most of our Low Bay LED lights have an IP65 rating, which makes them ideal for outdoor use. Also, the majority of our products in this category offer 150 lumens per watt. This means that if you were to buy a 200-watt model, you can expect to get an output of 30,000 lumens. This is more than enough for most lighting needs.
Low Bay LED lights are best suited for warehouse ceilings that are between 12 and 20 feet high. So, if yours is higher than that, you’ll likely need to go for a High Bay alternative instead.
IP65 High Bay Lights
As mentioned earlier, if your warehouse’s ceiling is higher than 20 feet, you’ll want to go for High Bay LED lights. These are great for warehouses with ceilings up to 50 feet. They provide bright and uniform lighting throughout your spaces.
Like their Low Bay counterparts, our High Bay LED lights come in a range between 100 and 200 watts, with a 150-watt model in between. These lights are also dimmable and offer 130 lumens per watt, meaning that the 200-watt model can give you an output of 26,000 lumens.
A High Bay LED light’s beam angle is typically 90 by 120 degrees, which is more than enough for wide lighting coverage. Moreover, these lights are designed to give over 80% of their original light output after a 50,000 lifespan. This is something that fluorescent alternatives can’t do—especially not without generating extra heat.
What Are the IP65 and IP66 Ratings?
The IP65 and IP66 ratings are used to establish a product’s resistance to water sprays and other elements. Lights with an IP65 rating can withstand dust, splashes, falling water and low-pressure water jets.
Those with an IP66 rating, on the other hand, can handle the elements mentioned above, as well as high-pressure water jets, and can be submerged in water for a limited time.
Depending on your warehouse’s needs and operations, you’ll either want to go with one or the other. However, if you’re not certain which one you need, we recommend purchasing an LED light with an IP66 rating just to be safe.
LED Warehouse Lights, Which One to Pick?
As you’ve hopefully learned through the information in this article, there are different types of LED Warehouse lights for different purposes. If your warehouse’s ceiling is between 12 and 20 feet high and won’t be under high-pressure water sprays, a Low Bay LED light will do the trick.
Provided that your warehouse’s ceiling is higher than 20 feet, a High Bay LED light should be your go-to. And if you know that your LED lights will be exposed to constant high-pressure water sprays and other unforgiving elements, then an IP66 non-corrosive alternative will be ideal.
